Credits & billing
How credits are earned and spent, what plans and packs include, and how to manage your subscription.
Afterdeck runs on credits. Generating decks and a few premium AI actions spend them; reading, presenting, sharing, and editing by hand are free. This page explains where credits come from, what they cost, and how plans and packs work.
Where credits come from
- 400 free credits when you sign up. They never expire.
- 100 free credits every month on the Free plan, added when you visit.
- Monthly credits from a subscription, refreshed each billing cycle.
- Credit packs are one-time top-ups you can buy anytime.
What spends credits (and what doesn't)
| Spends credits | Always free |
|---|---|
| Generating slides | Browsing and searching your library |
| Magic Animate | Presenting and sharing |
| Premium Agent edits | Editing text and images by hand |
| Smart Transitions | |
| Exporting in any format |
Exports never spend credits. Higher PowerPoint resolutions are part of paid plans instead (Higher needs Plus, Maximum needs Max). See Exporting.
The cost of generating
Every slide costs 10 credits, so a typical 12-slide deck is about 120 credits. The Create page and editor always show the cost before you spend. Planning depth is picked automatically and costs nothing extra. See Creating a deck.
Magic Animate and premium Agent edits each cost a small amount that's shown before you run them, and on higher plans they're included (see below).
Plans
| Plan | Price / month | Monthly credits | Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 (+300 at signup) | Up to 15-slide decks, 1 Magic Animate, unlimited Smart Transitions and sharing |
| Plus | $5 | 1,500 | Up to 30-slide decks, premium Agent model, unlimited Magic Animate, Ghost mode, higher-res exports |
| Pro | $18 | 7,000 | Unlimited-length decks, deep planning on complex decks, unlimited brands, priority generation access |
| Max | $44 | 20,000 | The autonomous agent, faster slide generation, max-res exports, heaviest usage |
Prices shown are per month billed annually (about two months cheaper than paying monthly). Max 2× doubles Max to 40,000 monthly credits. The full, always-current comparison lives on the pricing page.
Credit packs
One-time top-ups that stack on your balance and last a year:
| Pack | Credits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Spark | 800 | $4 |
| Lift | 2,200 | $10 |
| Scale | 6,000 | $24 |
| Summit | 16,000 | $50 |
A subscription is the cheapest per-credit rate and unlocks premium tools; packs are handy for occasional users or a heavy month.
When credits expire
Managing your subscription
Upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and pack purchases all run through Stripe's secure checkout and billing portal. Afterdeck never handles your card directly. Open it from the pricing page or Settings → Billing & credits.
A few things to know:
- Plan changes take effect immediately. You're charged the new plan's full price that day, your billing cycle restarts, and you get the new plan's full credits right away. Any unused credits from the old plan are kept for about a month.
- Canceling also takes effect right away, with your remaining credits available for about a month. No cancellation fees.
- Running out of credits mid-deck just pauses generation. Top up and continue, or finish later. You can also choose to start a deck that's bigger than your balance; it simply stops when credits run out.
