Comments & chat

Leave feedback pinned to exactly the right spot, and talk through a deck with your team in real time.

Afterdeck has two ways to talk about a deck: comments pinned to specific elements (great for feedback and review), and a live team chat for quick back-and-forth while you work. Both are available to editors and owners on a shared deck.

Comments

Comments attach to a specific element on a slide, so feedback always points at exactly what it's about, just like Google Docs or Figma.

  1. Start a comment. Select an element on the slide, then click Comment on the toolbar (or press ⌘/Ctrl + Alt + M).

  2. Write it. Type your note and press Comment. The element gets a soft highlight and your comment appears in the margin.

  3. Discuss. Anyone with edit access can Reply, add a reaction, or edit and delete their own comments.

  4. Resolve. When it's handled, click the check to mark it resolved and it tucks away. You can reopen it later if needed.

Comments are saved with the deck, so they're there when collaborators come back. On a phone, tap the Comments button to see and add comments in a full-screen sheet.

Team chat

On a shared deck, the right panel has a Chat tab, a live conversation with everyone currently editing. Use it for quick coordination: "I'll take slides 5–8," "what do you think of the new opener?"

  • Send messages, reply, and react.
  • A pill shows when new messages arrive while you're scrolled up.

Which one to use

You're giving feedback on something specific. You're coordinating in real time.
You want it to persist for later. It's a throwaway "you around?" message.
It should point at an exact element. It's about the deck in general.
