Introducing Ghost mode

Generate a deck that never joins your library, for the sensitive one-off stuff.

Ghost mode

Some decks aren’t meant to stick around. Ghost mode lets you build one without it ever joining your saved library, and our servers let go of it within a week.

Most of the time, having every deck saved to your account is the point: close the tab, sign in on another machine, and your work is waiting. But sometimes you’re putting confidential numbers, an unannounced plan, or a one-off you simply don’t want lingering into a deck. Ghost mode is for exactly that: same Afterdeck generation, none of the permanence.

What Ghost mode actually does

The short version: it keeps the deck off your account. A ghost deck never appears in Recent designs or anywhere in your library, and it’s permanently deleted from our servers within seven days.

We’re deliberately precise about the rest, because privacy claims should be honest. The slides are still written to temporary storage; they have to be, so you can edit, regenerate, and export them. That copy just never becomes a permanent part of your account, and it’s purged on a short clock. Everything travels over an encrypted connection (TLS) and sits encrypted at rest (AES-256) for as long as the deck exists.

  • Never saved to your library, with no entry in Recent designs
  • Permanently deleted from our servers within 7 days
  • Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256) while it lives
The Ghost mode mark
Same generation, none of the permanence.

Turning it on

Head to create a deck and look for the Ghost toggle in the composer, next to the reasoning and slide-count controls. Flip it on before you generate and a short explainer pops up the first time, so you know exactly what you’re opting into. Generation, editing, and export all work the same. The only difference is what happens to the deck afterward.

Export before you’re done

Because a ghost deck isn’t in your library, there’s no list to find it in later, so keep the tab open while you work. When you’re happy with it, export to Google Slides, PowerPoint, or PDF to keep a copy somewhere you control. Treat the export as your save button: once you close the tab, the deck is on its way out, and within a week it’s gone from our side for good.

Ghost mode is recommended for confidential or sensitive material. For the full picture of how we handle your data, read our Privacy Policy.
